ING (L) Invest US High Dividend wins Morningstar 2010 Awards in Hong Kong and Singapore
On Wednesday, 9 March, ING Investment Management participated in Asia Asset Management magazine's annual "Best of the Best Awards 2010" dinner and awards presentation ceremony, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong. This event distinguishes the most outstanding players in the fund management business in Asia for the past eight years.
The Morningstar Fund Awards for 2010 were recently announced across the Asia Pacific markets, with ING (L) Invest US High Dividend winning recognition during the Hong Kong and Singapore events in the category "US Large-Cap Equity".
The objective of the Morningstar Fund Awards is to recognize those funds and fund groups that have added the most value within the context of a relevant peer group for investors over the past year and over the longer-term.
The Fund Awards have been running for nine years in Hong Kong and four years in Singapore. To be eligible for the awards, funds must have at least five years of history in both markets, and it takes more than strong returns to merit consideration.
On behalf of the fund's manager Adour Sarkissian and the High Dividend team, Julia Lee (Head of Wholesales Sales and Business Development, Hong Kong) and Chandrima Das (CEO, Singapore) accepted the awards in Hong Kong and in Singapore, respectively.
The funds are screened through Morningstar's vigorous quantitative and qualitative selection criteria. Funds are scored by their total return percentile ranks in their Morningstar categories over a one-, three- and five-year period, with 30% of the total score on the one-year period, 20% on the three-year period, and 30% on the five-year period, for a total of 80% allocated to returns. The remaining 20% of a fund's score is allocated to risk adjustment. In doing this, the Morningstar Risk of each fund is assessed.
In addition to the quantitative selection criteria, qualitative screens such as consistency of investment style and accessibility to local market investors are incorporated to provide a comprehensive review of each eligible fund.
